sick sucks

i hate being sick. i really do. it's such an annoyance. i must note though, that since moving to the grand ol Otown, i haven't been really really sick - just now i have a sore throat and i am lacking in sleep due to never ending projects and Mythbusters marathons on the Discovery Channel.

i'm sure the frigid temperature of our classroom doesn't help the matter. i'm almost wishing i had brought a blanket in with me today...and i've only been here about 1/2 hour and still have about 7 hours left. ugh.

i want to go back to bed.

project status:
1 down, 4 more to go.

Harry Madness and loud girls

On Saturday night this weekend, back in the wonderful Mississauga, Thomas, Janie and I headed out to see the latest Harry Potter movie, the Goblet of Fire. We wanted to see it in IMAX so fortunately we had purchased the tickets online beforehand because every show that night was sold out. we got there over an hour early to wait in line for a seat and there were already around 50+ people there.

In front of us stood some really annoying and loud girls who kept screaming "Harry Potter rocks my socks". Behind us, were people dressed up in full Harry Potter gear, one Death Eater, one Dumbledore and two girls with capes, one bearing "Weasley" on the back of it.

When we finally did get in, we got some good seats and settled in to the 2 hour and 30 minute movie.
it was quite well done, except for the speedy intro and the missing out of TONS of stuff that was in the book, but really, they never fit everything in anyways.

as the movie ended, Janie exclaimed "let's go again!" haha.

all in all, it's worth seeing. Ralph Feines does an amazing job in the portrayal of Lord Voldemort and the Quiddich Cup at the beginning is quite outstanding as well.

but if you don't already have tickets, i wouldn't rush out to see it because i heard somewhere that almost every theatre sold out already. crazy.

Costco Crazyness

This morning was the opening of a new Costco (formerly of Price Club fame) in Kanata, Ottawa. The opening was at 8am and Thomas and I, never having been to an opening of any sort of store before, decided to venture out and see what it was about.

Hoping for free stuff and not many people, we arrived at a little past 8am and were completely blown away. There was a line of cars going into the parking lot and thousands of people already there!!! there were police officers manning the doors and once inside you could hardly even move. it was insane.

we wandered for around an hour, gathered a little bit of free samples and a Kiss FM mug and then decided to head out. As we walked back to the car, with a van following us for our spot, we realized that the huge parking lot was actually full. amazing.

who knew that so many people would be there?
not me i tell you.
not me.

Computers Behaving Badly

So Tara has always complained that technology and her don't get along. Yesterday, i experienced this phenominon. My computer has been acting kinda sluggish for the last little while and i just chose to ignore it. then yesterday i turned on my computer in class to work on some projects and at first it wouldn't even turn on. not good. i figured it was because the battery wasn't charged. not so, it was fully charged.

so i finally got it to turn on and it kept freezing then.....horizontal white lines kept flashing across the screen. NOT GOOD. we kept doing so many things to try to fix it and it kept doing it.

my roomie Adam brought it to my attention that there were some iBooks that had faulty logicboards. and sure enough, mine was covered under it (meaning i don't have to pay for it!)

anyways, so i call Apple support this afternoon and what do you know....it starts working as if nothing is wrong.

i'm still very hesitant about using it because i KNOW it will happen again

so wish me luch that it'll hold out till the holidays so i can use it for the tons of projects that are due in the next couple of weeks.

well i gtg. class has started.

a penny for your thoughts...or how about 23?!!?

ok. so today is officially the day of the penny finding.
while walking to class earlier, i stumbled upon 10 shiny pennies sitting on a table. then futher walking produced more forgotten pennies on the ground. and now, just at break, we found 4 more. another one was kindly donated by a classmate, Nick.

now we're up to 23 pennies.
two short of a local phone call.

so i'm hoping that i have a lot of good luck coming my way.
because 23 pennies in a couple hours is very odd.
