posting from a widget? no way!

I must say that I love Google. Thomas found this awesome widget that lets me post a blog right from my computer, no logging in required. I think they might only be for Mac's but they're still worth checking out.
Well I'd better get back to doing my presentation for the conference next week. On Wednesday i'm off to Edmonton to speak at an educational conference about the Survivor Network.

ps. I want to give a shoutout to Melissa and Matthew W. who recently stumbled across my loverly blog. hi!

bad...so very bad...

recently i've become interested in Palm Pilots. little teeny electronic organizers. sounds perfect for an organization freak like me.

so today, i was looking around and i found one i really want.

it's got a huge colour screen and has built in wireless internet receiver and you and write on it with the pen and draw as well.

this is bad because they're expensive.

so for now, i shall just dream....and hope to win the lottery

ice ice baby

the weather this winter in Ottawa has been crazy. warm weather almost bringing Winterlude to a halt and the canal is never frozen enough...until today that is.

yesterday, as usual, Thomas and I headed to his parent's house in Arnprior so that he could get the car because I work on Fridays. It started snowing in the morning, which is good i might add because both of us really want to go skiing. anyways, long story short, there were reports of nasty freezing rain on its way, so Thomas came back in my car and decided to stay over at my place again and just wait while i babysat today.

well, as we exited school last night it was almost hailing, with the tiny pellets hitting our faces and hurting! we got home alright and went to bed. this morning was a whole different Ottawa. I left 45minutes early so that i'd make it on time or early. the journey usually takes about 10mins.

first, i went to go out the back through the fence to my car, but the fence was frozen shut in 10cms of ice. so i went around the front to find my car frozen shut. after 10minutes of trying, i finally got the door open and realized that there was over an inch thick layer of ice ALL OVER my car. i tried getting it off but got nowhere and went in to call babysitting, which they decided they didn't need me till later and i told them i'd try to get into my car.

it took 3 people and 1 hour to clear the car. we broke 2 ice scrapers and the wind was NUTS. i've never seen such ice.

I asked Thomas to drive me to babysitting because i get stressed driving in ice/snowy conditions and i've been here since 2.

so if we backtrack to last night, one of tara's friends, Janice (who used to live in my room), was over and she decided to stay over rather than risk the freezing rain. well after we helped her clear her car this morning, she returned to her house to find it without power so she came back. NUTSO.

what a day. that's all i have to say.

ps. i totally just accidentally posted this on my sister's blog by accident. oops!

Are those people dancing or.....

This past Saturday was the Carleton University Charity Ball which 2 of my roomies helped to organize. Everyone got dressed all fancy-like and went to the Congress Centre in Ottawa and had a blast. There were tons of people there - i'm talking like 2000 people. it's too bad i didn't have such luck at my concert last year!

I wore my pink and black dress from Fairweather that i got a couple of years ago and Thomas was able to find an AMAZING tie that went very well and of which he received many compliments. He also was able to find a cufflink shirt and was able to wear his tie clip and matching cufflinks from Paris that he hadn't worn yet! Everyone looked stunning in their outfits and we all had fun dancing and making fun of the people who weren't dressed "appropriately" or who were doing suspicious things on the dance floor.

Earlier that day, Thomas and his little bro, Shawn, and I went to the Kanata Wave Pool which was tons of fun - and only $5 for students for 4 hours! Granted it was quite crowded with families, but we didn't mind. we went from the pool to the hot tub to the slide and back again. After swimming, Thomas and I went out to East Side Marios to celebrate our 1 year anniversary which was actually yesterday. It was great.

Speaking of yesterday, since it was our 1 year, we decided to forego school to do some more homework, then I kidnapped Thomas and took him mini-putting and then we topped it off with ice cream from McD's. it was a fun day, but alas, we're back to real life today. more homework and school tonight.

On another fabulous note: Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Ware-Rabbit comes out today so i'm stoked.

This coming weekend i'm going home for a visit which will be great. i'm very excited.
